Abstract

Background: Hyperhidrosis is considered a condition characterized by excessive, unmanageable sweating. The disease can deteriorate the quality of life from a psychological,

emotional, and social perspective. Hyperhidrosis is a challenging condition that interferes with routine activities, causes emotional imbalance, and disturbs both the professional and social lives of the patients.

Aim: The aim of the study is to review and summarize published literature on hyperhidrosis, quality of life, degree of severity, and comparison of treatment methods of hyperhidrosis.

Method: We have searched all the available literature via PubMed and Google Scholar databases by using keywords hyperhidrosis prevalence, quality of life, hyperhidrosis disease severity scale, and hyperhidrosis treatments.

Conclusion: the published literature clarifies that hyperhidrosis affects the patients’ quality of life. There are a variety of methods for the treatment of primary hyperhidrosis, but comparative effectiveness is lacking. The signification of this study is to provide a new method of treatment that would be more effective for the treatment of primary hyperhidrosis.
